Instalación On Blackboard I, 2006

Sobre un conjunto de cuadros redondos y cuadrados se hace inventario de un grupo de imágenes y textos superpuestos, con el objetivo de escribir y dibujar. La etimología griega lo expresa bien, graphein – son una sola y misma cosa. Escribir y dibujar, coinciden en la distancia y en la obsesión, buscan ambos fijar el rastro de las cosas, llámese nombre o huella. Sin embargo, el deseo del cuadro se ve acompañado de la conciencia de su imposibilidad. Y si se niega la correspondencia entre el sistema del mundo y del lenguaje, las palabras quedan suspendidas, ligadas apenas al azar que las hace girar sobre sí mismas. Nuestro ojo debe seguir su trayecto para comprender el conjunto. Sentimos que las palabras insertas en el cuadro no son posibles sin una moral del lenguaje.

On Blackboard I Installation, 2006

On a set of round and square paintings an inventory is made of a group of superimposed images and texts with the objective of writing and drawing on them. Greek etymology describes it well, graphein – one and the same thing. Writing and drawing coincide in distance and obsession, both try to fix the trace of things albeit a name or a mark. However, the painting´s desire is accompanied by the awareness of its impossibility.

If the relationship between the world system and language is denied, words are left suspended, barely bound to the fortune which makes them spin round on themselves. Our eye must follow their path to understand the whole. We feel that the words inserted into the painting are not possible without a moral of language.
